My mother came over today and while we were sitting and chatting at the kitchen table, the housekeeper walked in. Rather than simply say, “Oh, Ana is here today!” my mother decided to halt all conversation and mouth to me: Ana is here today?
Now, I don’t know about you but if one walks into a room where lively conversation was occurring- or any for that matter, and then it falls silent out of nowhere, wouldn’t you assume they were talking about you?
And as if that wasn’t bad enough, when my middle- who btw hates being discussed, walked 10 feet towards the den, my mother felt it was a good time to mouth to me: what is she going to do next summer? She can’t stay home all day and do this; she needs consistency.
The way I see it is that I had one choice: “Mid, Bub said you can’t stay home all summer; she wants to know what you plan on doing next summer. Says you need consistency and doing nothing is no good.”
