I don’t know a plant from a weed. That being said…. I asked Gramps if the plants I wanted planted were ok to be placed in one of the front beds.

“That’s a Fritillaria imperialis and will only bloom in the spring for two weeks- you don’t want that,” he said.

It would have been far easier for me to understand if he just said it was a weed, than to get into a whole diatribe on why I shouldn’t not be planting that in one of the public beds.
