It was the coldest day of the year when the family of five was found frozen in their suburban home on New Year’s Eve. Mother and children were found huddled under several blankets, wearing winter accessories from head to toe. The father, thought originally as a suspect, was found of all things with his iPad and puppy stuck to his chest, in bed. Sources say there was heat on the upper level of their home, however a fuse was blown during the use of three inadequate, portable heaters while trying to prepare what appeared to be dinner for a large community. During the search and rescue, police found an impeccably clean master bathroom located in-between two of the children’s bedrooms. Although the cause for the lack of heat is unknown, sources think it could be related to the most recent renovation. According to a neighbor, it all went downhill during the installation of the children’s bathtub. “I remember seeing various plumbers and HVAC companies entering the home daily- even hours leading up to this their tragedy,” says neighbor Getty Vahtupayfor.

In the end, one thing is for sure, it’s not only imperative that you check on the elderly during the extreme weather conditions, but your multi-zoned neighbors as well.
