Today while walking in the rain, when I was 4 miles from my house, I realized I was supposed to take my car to be serviced hours ago. Immediately I raced home, got the car and pulled into the shop.
Me: I’m here to drop off my car.
Man: You were supposed to be here two hours ago.
Me: (ominous) I know, I got here as soon as I could.
Man: Well, you’re going to have to wait another week. Our technician waited for you and began working on another car which is going to take a while.
Me: (taking my car and driving to hell) You see, I was late because my father was just getting home from the hospital and I was waiting on hospice.
Man: I’m sorry to hear that. Let me go and talk to the technician and see.
Me: (wiping the rain on my face as if it were tears) I understand, if I have to come back, well… I’ll work it out.
One minute later…
Man: We’ll get your loaner car for you in a moment.
